Having left it too late last winter to get the winter coat I lusted after so dearly (still not quite over it!), as soon as the autumn/winter pieces started to drop this year, I pounced as soon as my eyes caught this faux fur beauty from Topshop. The perfect colour to go with everything! Saying that, I am a creature of habit for neutral tones and florals (guilty!!). Since I got my coat, it has sold out but thankfully, they have re-stocked in a peach colour which I think is a much more flattering tone.
I paired it for a recent style shoot with this cute floral midi dress and gorgeous belt from Whitefawn Boutique
If there is one thing you spend money on this winter, a coat is well worth the investment, it will pay for itself in no time! Take your time in choosing the right one for you and make sure it will work with everything else in your wardrobe. You need to ensure all your hard earned pennies are being well spent.

“One day like this a year will see me right….” I’m still singing after the Elbow gig at Live at the Marquee on Wednesday night! I absolutely adore music and always feel so uplifted after a good gig! That being said, I don’t go to enough concerts, something I need to start doing more! I picked up this cute smock summer dress from Asos recently. It was quite the bargain at €37 and have it linked below too (just click on the pictures for links). It’s really good quality and has that lovely jersey material for a good fit. Winner all round!
Current Favourite Summer Dresses
I’m obsessed with dresses at the moment! I think it’s because as a nation and our climate, we don’t get the chance to get out of the jeans much but I’m definitely making more of an effort this summer. That being said, I don’t know if it’s a good thing because right now I want all the dresses! Smock and midi styles being my top favourites. Topshop, Zara, River Island and Asos have a great range at the moment and lots of good offers! Whitefawn Boutique also have the most divine range at the moment and they are also having a sale!
The dress above that I wore on holidays is from an Australian label called Auguste and is now sold out, however they do have other gorgeous pieces in stock and some on sale!
I adore the label. They have such a gorgeous range of clothing, however they are that little bit more expensive as the pieces are such good quality and you must be prepared to pay customs charges on delivery! So you would really really want to get the wear out of your piece before purchasing.
Happy shopping 🙂 C, X
I recently escaped for some much needed Vitamin D and a chilled out week for a holiday to the gorgeous little fishing town of Alvor in Portugal and have been dreaming about it ever since our return. I had been to Portugal years ago and have completely fallen in love with it all over again! And being from Cork, of course it is absolutely ideal to be able to fly direct and land at your destination in just a few short hours.
We booked through Lee Travel on Princes Street, Cork. Having dealt with the lovely Maria on a few occasions she is, as all their team are, brilliant to deal with. It’s nice to have someone do all the booking and work for you sometimes! We stayed in the AMAZING 4 star Pestana Alvor South Beach hotel and I could not recommend it enough with it’s contemporary and gorgeous décor and relaxed vibe, making it an ideal getaway. I could rave about it forever (did I mention the three infinity pools?!), but I have included the link above for you to see for yourself.
The fact that it was seconds from the beach (you get that gorgeous Algarve sea-breeze tan!) was a massive plus and connected by a gorgeous boardwalk that runs the entire length of the beach. This also leads into the little town, a mere 5 minutes walk away. An absolutely perfect and ideal location.
The town itself is super quaint and was not over-run at the time we visited. However a few locals did mention to avoid in August if you are thinking of travelling here as, like all sun destinations, it is an incredibly busy time! Being a little fishing town, there was an abundance of the most delicious fresh fish everywhere you go and being a total foodie, I was so impressed with the selection of gorgeous restaurants on offer. You can imagine my absolute delight when we discovered a gorgeous mediterranean restaurant called Lusitania that served up delicious organic food that included vegetarian and vegan dishes! Needless to say, we visited this particular place a good few times during our stay.
Just a few of my favourite and best places to eat in Alvor:
The Sea Deck Bar & Restaurant – if you are staying at the Pestana South Beach, this bar and restaurant is part of the hotel but located just to the rear exterior of the hotel on the boardwalk and so is available to anyone visiting Alvor. An ideal spot for lunch if you are staying at the hotel and don’t feel like venturing too far or just for a cheeky glass of vino soaking up the rays and gazing out to sea….Take me back!!
If you have any further questions on Alvor that I can help with, please feel free to leave a comment.
In the meantime, I’m off to research my next adventure! (Now where did I leave that bag of money….) 😉
There is no doubt about it – when Spring has sprung, I am instantly refreshing my wardrobe! Let’s be honest, winter in Ireland is long, drab and dark and the need for brighter tones once March arrives is instant! Plus many of us have just finished paying endless January and February bills after the Christmas period! Light knits can be so easy to style. Pair a cropped knit over a cute dress or skirt and a longer knit over your favourite jeans, layering with a leather jacket for an extra edge. You can get my rust knit here
A light knit will see you through the spring, summer and autumn seasons. Layer up or down as the temperatures change (which is common in Ireland). A pretty jumper will take you from day to night easily!!
Some of my favourite knits at the moment:
River Island Grey Mesh off Shoulder Jumper
Free People Endless Stories Jumper @ ASOS
Frills, ribbon details and mesh are high on trend this season and all are super flattering to wear. Many of my readers will know at this stage, that I am big on quality over quantity with everything (something my bank balance does not thank me for at times!!) So my advice is, if you really love something and you will genuinely get the wear out of it, then go for it! The reality is, it will go far if the quality and brand is good. Look outside the box too – if you purchase something from a small boutique or a different brand on a website such as ASOS, subsequently the chances are your choice will be unique and no one else will probably have it!

Finally, as the saying goes, “If you can’t stop thinking about it, buy it.” Happy shopping! X
